Summit of Greatness Recap

Career, General, Lifestyle

As I checked in for my flight, I couldn’t help but feel nervous and excited at the same time. I’ve never been to Columbus Ohio, let alone Ohio. I’ve also never been to an inaugural event. Who will attend? Will I meet anyone I can connect with? Will I get the most out of the speakers? These were all of the questions that ran through my head as I got on that plane. What happened next was…MAGIC!

With a blink of an eye, I was back in Vegas with a profound energy and emotional high. I conquered my fears of traveling to the unknown alone. And I conquered the The Summit of Greatness. Here is my recap:

The Guests

kristina-c-b

YouTube celebrity and Raw Vegan chef Kristina Carrillo-Bucaram is also the founder and creator of FullyRaw, and the Rawfully Organic co-op.

What I Loved: Relating to my own auto-immune disorder, I loved Kristina’s struggle to success story with food. I have currently changed my own diet drastically too.

matthew-hussey

Matthew Hussey is a New York Times bestselling author, internationally recognized motivational speaker and a human dynamics specialist.

What I Loved: Matthew has some of the best stage presence I’ve ever seen. His persona is sincere, funny and intoxicating to watch.

ryan-blair-2

Ryan Blair is a New York Times bestselling author, self-made multimillionaire and serial entrepreneur who established his first company when he was 21.

What I Loved: I loved connecting with Ryan personally as parts of his success story mirrored mine. I also loved his constant engagement with individuals beyond the stage.

danielle-laporte

Danielle Laporte is called “equal parts poet and entrepreneurial bad-ass…edgy, contrarian…loving and inspired.”

What I Loved: Danielle gave some insight on what it was to be a feminist and that it does not always apply to women. I loved her edginess.

fabio-viviani

Top Chef Fabio Viviani has possessed a passion for food since his childhood growing up in Florence, Italy.

What I Loved: I related to his story about being an immigrant coming to America without any possessions and not speaking the language. His raw passion was very clear on stage.

katherine-w-t-2

Katherine Woodward Thomas is the author of the NYT best seller, Conscious Uncoupling: 5 Steps to Living Happily Ever After.

What I Loved: Her perspective and insight on the modern age relationship and that two people can love one another and not be together.

adam-in-q

Adam In-Q is a National Poetry Slam Champion and multi-platinum winning songwriter, who has sold out the largest one-man poetry show in history.

What I Loved: In-Q interacted with the audience by delivering his powerful rhymes while walking through the audience and even on top of backs of chairs and section dividers.

stacy-london

Stacy London is one of America’s foremost fashion experts, co-host of TLC’s hugely popular show, What Not to Wear for 10 years, and a style contributor on ABC’s The View.

What I Loved: Learning the importance of inner beauty as well as outer beauty. Stacy’s vulnerability on stage was very moving and allowed for her audience to deeply connect.

dj-irie

DJ Irie is a World’s Best Electronic Dance Music Artist and the winner of the BET Hip Hop Award for Best DJ of the year.

What I Loved: How an average everyday kid with a passion and drive took the Miami music scene by storm. I love his humility on stage and when he’s behind the decks.

kyle-maynard

Kyle Maynard is a motivational speaker, author, entrepreneur and athlete. Born a quadruple amputee, he has defied all odds. First person to crawl up Mt. Kilimanjaro.

What I Loved: Everything! His story, courage, passion, sheer will and inspiration to achieve and help others achieve greatness was very emotional to watch.

christian-howes

A classically trained jazz violinist, Christian Howes was a favorite of the late Les Paul, with whom he worked with closely for 11 years.

What I Loved: A true great. Christian is Lewis’ brother and so talented. His violin seemed like an extension of his arms that he controlled with ease to create breathtaking sounds.

The Workouts

Mmmmmm, nothing like a 5:30am (4am for some people) Cross Fit Bootcamp to fire you up for the speakers to come. My timezone was off so I was one of the few people up at 4am. We arrived to a warehouse where the likes of Steve Weatherford, Cory Gregory, and Marc Fitt awaited to torture us! The exercise wasn’t too bad considering we had almost 80 people in attendance. My personal goal was to finish every exercise as I have recently been recovering from my Colitis flare-up. The final half mile run was inspirational as all of the people that finished early ran back and cheered the lagging teammates. High fives and a search for the nearest trash can in hopes to not throw up, I could finally scream with pride “I DID IT!”

That is me on the very right barely holding it together for the picture!

Final Thoughts

The bar was definitely set high. The introductions alone are enough to top any other event. My personal challenge was to conquer my fear of attending an event alone. Not knowing a single person. Not knowing the city. Just me, myself and I. I can say with certainty that my goal was accomplished. I felt so much love and warmth around these strangers as everyone shared their vulnerable moments in an environment of support. I came out with new life-long friends, insight, and compassion and have already purchased my tickets for next year! A big thank you to Lewis Howes, his family and all of the wonderful staff that made this event so Magical. Lewis, as you so often say in your podcasts, want to acknowledge you for following your dream and having the courage to orchestrate such a memorable experience. I want to thank you for touching so many lives and bringing about inspiration and positivity to the world. In Gratitude!!!!

Dimitry, I did not have a chance to speak with you much at the Summit2016. What was your biggest takeaway? Who was the speaker who truly taught you something about yourself? Fabio Viviani was very powerful to me. For his family, he gave away everything, no questions, pushing through fears of not having enough. So selfless and courageous to sell all of his success then moving into the unknown from there.

      Stacy,
Hopefully, I get to connect with you much more at the 2017 Summit.
My biggest takeaway was that no matter what level of awareness each individual has, we all still have something to learn from one another. I took away a little bit from every speaker, every story, and every guest. Fabio definitely resonated with me . I was born in a different country and immigrated when I was young, so I understand his challenges and appreciate his hustle. Ryan Blair was a big one for me. I’m currently looking for a mentor for my endeavors and his story was very special!
Let me know if I can ever be of service to you.
      In gratitude!
